Brocken Spectre

Photo: Toby Harling

Explanation: This month's picture was taken at the New Year meet from the top of Snowdon. It shows a 'glory' and the shadow of the summit on clouds below resulting in a spectre of the brocken. These effects occur when light is scattered backwards from cloud or mist droplets.
