A rare visitor to North Wales
A rare visitor to North Wales
Photo: Jill Thomas

Explanation: Neil and Jill, taking advantage of the 'open house' at the centre, enjoyed a splendid coastal walk around the end of the Lleyn Peninsular on 23rd August. As an added bonus, they had good views of two juvenile Dotterels - usually seen on top of Scottish mountains but now migrating south. Having exchanged messages with the warden at Bardsey Island Observatory, it seems highly likely these are the same two birds that put in appearance on the island that week. Initially it was reported that this was only the 6th recorded sighting on the island.
