The CHAmois Mountaineering Club was founded in 1964 by members of the Countrywide Holidays Association, as a nationally (UK) based mountaineering club. Although its membership of over 200 is widely dispersed, most members live in the northern industrial areas around Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds. It is a member club of the British Mountaineering Council and is affiliated to the Rambler's Association. The CHAmois Mountaineering Club covers all ages and both genders, and is organised and run on a fully democratic basis.
