How to JoinThis section provides information for non-members on how to join the CHAmois Mountaineering Club. There are currently 200 CHAmois Mountaineering Club members. Membership is open to people with a demonstrated interest in mountaineering activities that have been nominated by two full members of the club. Prospective members should therefore attend a few club meets before deciding if they wish to join as an associate member. Such people are most welcome and invited to come along to any meet to find out about the club first hand. Associate membership lasts for not less than one year. After that period, the club's committee will be consider prospective members for acceptance as full members. Prospective members should in the first instance apply by e-mail to the Membership Secretary (see below) giving their name and address. A membership pack will be sent by Royal Mail post. This pack will contain more details than given here including a membership application form and details about club meets, information about the club’s Mountaineering Centre in Snowdonia and fees. Members come from many different walks in life, however all share a common interest in mountaineering activities. Members include singles, couples and families. Members live all over the country and abroad, however they tend to be most concentrated nearer to the main mountain areas that we visit frequently, so quite a few live in the vicinity of the major conurbation's of Liverpool, Greater Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds. Member’s ages cover a wide span from 11 upwards. Children less than 11 may attend some suitable meets where indicated in our newsletter and if accompanied by their parents. Members pay an annual subscription and the amount depends on their status (e.g. Junior, Student, Full). Certain meets need to be booked in advance and there may be a fee for the accommodation and other expenses. Members receive Club Newsletters at two monthly intervals containing information including future and past meets. They can use the member’s only accommodation at our Mountaineering Centre at any time and there are also reciprical rights with a Club at Patterdale in the Lake District. Membership also brings with it the benefits and privileges of the BMC and RA affiliation. You can contact the Membership Secretary using this inquiry form. |
