What's New 2003?

20th November
I have added a new feature to the Website Admin section; the Meets Planning Secretary can now update the Meets List. I have also made it easier for the Webmaster to update the site's search engine index.

2nd November
I have put the past and future meets from the Newsletter in the meets section. The whole Newsletter is available in the Members' Section a bit early due to the postal strike - normally I wait until the paper copies arrive so that nobody is disadvantaged in booking meets.

31st October
I think I have now managed to get most of the website back up and running. I have also re-instated as many email forwarding addresses as I could remember/had written down.

30th October
This evening I discovered that the website had completely disappeared from the face of the web. It turns out that our hosting company's webserver had broken down and they had moved us to a new one. Unfortunately this means that all our files and settings have been lost.

16th October
I have put a new hut bookings list in the Members' section of the website. This will be updated by the Hut Booking Secretary so should be pretty up to date.

13th October
Thanks to Mel for pointing out that the map link on the Barden Tower meet was 100km to the east of where it should have been. This was down to a mix up in eastings that put the SE grid where the TA grid is but has now been fixed.

6th October
I've been out of the country for a few weeks so was unable to update the website for a while. The pictures of the month for August and September have now been added (October to follow shortly). The past and future meets from the September Newsletter have also been added.

31st August
I noticed that the noticeboard has not been displaying the dates of messages since I updated it several weeks ago - it has now been fixed. I plan to set up a system, to let members delete messages from the noticeboard, in the near future.

28th July
I have added several pictures to the gallery from Scotland at Spring Bank and Wales last weekend and last year. I have also put the current Newsletter in the Members' section.

2nd July
A link to the obituary for Roland Anthony has been added to the right hand navigation bar. I have also added the past and future meets as well as the picture of the month. Thanks to Mel I have corrected a problem that existed with the "Add a message" link on the Noticeboard.

17th June
Thanks to Alan Brindley, I have updated the link to the Lancaster Fellwalkers on the Clubs of the World page. I have also updated the front page so that the next four meets are displayed rather than just the next meet. I have also added redirects for pages that have changed their addresses with the new design.

7th June
Apparently the new design site doesn't work in Netscape 4.7 so I have adapted the text only version of the site to a old version page. This converts the new site to look like the old one so should hopefully display in Netscape 4.7. I guess some of the pages may not work properly though. If you are using Netscape 4.7 why not install Mozilla Firebird - an opensource browser.

6th May
Unfortunately this month's Picture of the Month doesn't appear in the Newsletter due to various email problems, but is now displayed in all its glory on the website. The past and future meets from Newsletter 232 are also online. I have also taken the Bank Holiday weekend as an opportunity to overhaul the website and put the new design into practice. Hopefully the navigation is now more logical and I have made use of stylesheets to remove non-essential parts of the page when it is printed. I have also taken the opportunity to widen the page from 600 pixels to 800 pixels although the main part of the page should still be viewable in a 640px wide screen. There is now also a low graphics version of each page.

6th April
I have fixed the quiz which Toby noticed had broken earlier in the week when I updated the questions. You can now get a fullscreen version of it, although this will probably be too slow for those of us not on broadband. I have also added the April picture of the month.

26th March
Thanks to the webmaster of Club Peņa Trevinca, Robin Dean (Gentian M.C.), Juan C. (from the USA) and John Palmer (Harrow and Wembley Outdoor Group) for letting me know about links to mountaineering clubs - we have broken the 400 mark as we are now up to 407.
Work is continuing on the new version and pages should automagically remove things like the menu bar when you print them. The new version will probably go live before the next newsletter unless anyone has any objections.

24th March
After discussions with the Hut Booking Secretary, the CMC page has been modified to make it clearer for people outside of the club.

23rd February
I noticed that the Hut Booking Secretary was still wrong so the information has been updated.

11th February
I have begun testing a new design for the website. I would like to know what people think of it.

1st February
The February picture of the month is now on line.

12th January
The latest future and past meets are now on the website.
