At the Chamois Mountaineering Centre there is an electric vehicle charger available for use by members and guests. It is located on the outside of the building next to the main car park and should be easy to find. For anyone who has an electric vehicle it will be straightforward and easy to use, but below are some points to note:

  1. It is a 22KwH charger and should charge your vehicle up reasonably quickly (1-2hrs). Please be considerate of other potential users and, once you have sufficient charge, please move your vehicle away from the charger so that others can access the charger.

  1. It is a pay as you go charge point and you will need a smart phone to use it and pay for your charging.

  1. The payment system is run by a company called VoltShare. If you wish you can download their app onto your phone in advance, but this is not necessary.

  1. There is a QR code on the charge point. To use the charge point, simply scan the QR code which will take you through to a payment portal where you will be able to pay for your charging. It will only charge you for the amount of electricity that you use.

  1. The charger is untethered and so you will need your own charging cable (all electric vehicles should have their own and this shouldn’t be a problem).

  1. If you have a charging time scheduled on your vehicle then you will need to remove this otherwise it will not start charging.

  1. Should you encounter any problems with the charge point not working please, in the first instance, contact the VoltShare helpline. The number is located on the signage next to the charge point and they should be able to sort anything out for you.

  1. The rate that you get charged is set so that we cover our electricity costs and make a small contribution to the cost and installation of the charger.
